An elegant, slightly decadent, bow window room with a polished parquet floor is the setting for Rosa Barba and David Maljkovic's latest joint installation. For the fourth show at this young Prenzlauerberg exhibition space, located in the living room of artist Oliver Croy and critic Henrikke Nielsen's second-floor apartment, Croatian artist Maljkovic has crafted a site-specific intervention, Again for Tomorrow, 2006, covering the window's aperture and the surrounding walls with numerous panels of
Sheetrock. Playing with the white and brown surfaces of his material, Maljkovic composes a giant distorted chessboard that stretches vertically from floor to ceiling, forming a parasitical environment that overwhelms and darkens the room.

The installation serves as a screen onto which is projected It's gonna happen, 2005, Rosa Barba's 16-mm film made up of
subtitles describing a night scene in a fictional city. The sound track to this imageless cinema is composed of a conversation between a president and his assistant, a mysterious complot that somehow rhymes with the dialogue in the film's subtitles. Barba's piece imbues the space with enigmatic plots while Maljkovic builds a curious backdrop for invented conspiracies.

It’s gonna happen” and “Again for tomorrow” meet at the point in which the future becomes a black hole and creates new possibilities. It inflicts a parallel life on the content of the works and their inherent problems are placed in a new time-frame: the space of the future. (Barba and Maljkovic)
